Receiving a parcel

red arrow Please keep your tracking number until your item has reached its destination. Items can be tracked on our website or from our free app. You will need your ID and the tracking number to collect your item, plus money for import taxes and the handling fee.

red arrow If you are expecting a parcel, ask the sender for the tracking number. A tracking number starts and ends with two letters with a series of numbers in- between. eg. AB123456789CD. The tracking number will be printed on the sender's receipt.

red arrow All UPU-member countries will be able to track their international mail items with one number soon. Your item will no longer be allocated a South African tracking number.

red arrow Please enquire about the item at your local post office first, before contacting our Customer Service Centre.

red arrow If you cannot find your mail item, or need assistance, please contact our Customer Service Centre on [email protected] or [email protected] or call us on 0860 111 502.

red arrow Remember that parcels need to be collected from your local Post Office counter, as they do not fit into a postbox. Mail will only be delivered to your door if you have chosen the Speed Services Courier's Door-to-Door option.

red arrow Should you wish to send your parcel to a different address, kindly contact your local post office and ask for it to be re-directed to the correct address. There is a fee applicable if you choose this option.

red arrow All International Mail items are subject to inspection by the Department of Health first, then by SARS and lastly it goes to the SA Post Office for distribution.

red arrow SARS determines the import tax amount which is payable by law. The Post Office acts as an agent for SARS, we do not determine the amount charged. If you feel the amount charged by SARS is too high, you can send the item back to SARS for a re-assessment.

Customs Clearance (Handling Fee)

red arrow A customs clearance fee of R58.50 is charged on all incoming parcels and R30.20 on all other postal items. This fee is charged by the Post Office to cover costs incurred in clearing the parcel/postal item on behalf of the addressee. This fee is levied over and above any customs duties, VAT, etc charged by SARS or any other entities and is levied even if no other charges are due.
